Crowns and Bridges

A crown is designed to completely cover a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are often indicated in cases where a large cavity compromises the integrity of a tooth, and they also serve to enhance both the strength and aesthetics of teeth.
A bridge is a restorative dentistry technique used to replace missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth between two porcelain crowns, thereby filling the gap created by the absent tooth or teeth.
Dental Bridges
For patients requiring tooth replacement, dental bridges present an effective solution. The primary types of dental bridges include:
1. Fixed Bridge
The fixed bridge is the most widely utilised type. In this procedure, crowns are placed on the teeth adjacent to the site of the missing tooth, connecting them via a crown positioned within the gap. As an alternative, a dental implant may be considered.
2. Cantilever Bridge
Similar in approach to the fixed bridge, the cantilever bridge employs only one supporting tooth rather than two.
3. Maryland Bridge
Appropriate for replacing front teeth, the Maryland Bridge is particularly suitable for children. This bridge is secured to the neighbouring teeth using ceramic or metal "wings" that are bonded or adhered in place.
